The Great Ocean Road Chocolaterie & Ice Creamery produces, displays and sells artisan chocolate and ice cream. The facility is set in 15 acres of countryside and will offer patrons tasting tours so that they can see how the chocolate is made.
The owners had to ensure that all areas complied with hygiene standards while simultaneously presenting an attractive appearance to customers. This applied to not only the café serving area, but also to the production, storage and loading areas as well as the commercial kitchen – which would all be visible during the tours.
700m2 of the self-levelling epoxy Flowshield SL and 700m2 of the hardwearing epoxy Flowcoat OP was applied throughout these areas. This specification was ideal, as the seamless, impervious finish it created meant that the floor could be quickly and easily cleaned. The durability of these systems would retain these hygienic properties to avoid the traffic, temperatures, spillages and impacts inherent to food production zones from cracking, chipping or deteriorating the surface.
In order to maintain visual consistency across the client’s facilities, the floor area was supplied in a bespoke colour matched to the Australian Standard AS2700 colour Y65 Mushroom. An anti-slip aggregate was integrated into the Flowcoat OP layer to provide a safe platform underfoot for both staff and visitors.
