Key areas of concern for the tertiary institute were to ensure solutions delivered a flexible surface that could accommodate thermal movement in the substrate and a striking appearance with a fluid pattern that was also UV stable as the solution would be used throughout both internal and external areas.
Extensive substrate preparation was required ahead of installation including the use of Universal GP Resin to ensure that the substrate was correctly prepared and ready for the application of the approximate 1600m2 of the polyurethane resin-based Deckshield ED. Deckshield UV Linemarker was used to create the distinct patterns across the floor and movement joints were cut and sealed with Tremco’s Dynomic 100 high-performance polyurethane sealant.
The project was completed in multiple stages by the applicator Multiblast Industrial Flooring over a 10-week period so that disruption was kept to a minimum - allowing the site to remain open to students and staff. The result fosters a creative community atmosphere.
