A combination of the fully trafficable, crack bridging, waterproof coatings Deckshield Rapide ID and Deckshield Rapide ED were chosen for the task thanks to the ability of these systems to rapidly create colourful and high performance floors that will withstand conditions within car parking facilities for an extended period of time.
In order to install the flooring materials into Light+Co’s desired pattern, the contactor, Multiblast Industrial Flooring, faced the challenge of having to treat them like a paint rather than a resin coating. This approach meant that the methyl methacrylate enhanced finishes could be laid down into an interconnecting design of red and brown circles and bright yellow stripes on an alternating background of vivid blue, brown and grey.
During the four week flooring project, a total of 500m2 of Deckshield ID Rapide was installed in the internal walkways and a further 1,500m2 of Deckshield ED Rapide was applied across the external car park areas.
The Deckshield ID Rapide that was installed on the internal walkways had to cover patches of coloured concrete. To avoid a floor failure the diamond grinding carried out as part of the surface preparation process had to be very precise so as not to grind into the coloured concrete.
