Based in Geelong, Barwon Health provides a wide range of community care specialties including a heated pool for hydrotherapy treatment sessions. Cleanliness and safety are paramount concerns in this area of the facility to protect the well-being of the patients.
Reducing slip and trip risks is a particular priority in the Hydrotherapy Centre, as patients with conditions that restrict movement will be walking around in an area with a lot of water. When the tiles around the pool started the deteriorate the floor became worn and slippery, therefore Barwon Health knew that it needed to quickly refurbish this part of the site to bring it back up to the necessary standard.
The hybrid resin-based flooring system Flowfresh SRQ was applied in a grey coloured quartz blend on top of the existing tiles to create a new finish for the pool surrounds, walkways, amenities and treatment rooms. Not having to take up the old floor coating meant that the centre cut down the time frame and costs of the project as well as minimising disruption to its daily activity.
The positively textured finish of Flowfresh SRQ from Flowcrete Australia’s Flowsports Aquatic range provides a slip resistant surface and its impressive moisture tolerance ensures that the significant quantities of water it will be exposed to won’t damage the coating.
Thanks to its easy to apply nature, the floor finish was laid to a fall and installed right up to the drainage, helping to make sure that any liquids flow off the floor and don’t cause problematic pools of water.
