Flooring in swimming pool facilities needs to provide a hygienic, slip resistant, colourful and robust surface in the face of a number of challenges, such as exposure to large quantities of water, foot traffic and cleaning chemicals.
1,800 m2 of Flowfresh SRQ was installed to create a finish that both reflected the venue’s interior design scheme and that provided it with the necessary safety and functionality properties. Flowfresh SRQ has been designed to provide an enhanced level of substrate moisture tolerance, protecting the floor against the damaging effects that large quantities of water can have on a resin flooring system.
This moisture tolerant, durable and chemical resistant hybrid resin-based flooring system has a decorative coloured quartz finish. Its combination of seamlessness and imperviousness makes it ideal for leisure and aquatic facilities, where it’s vital that water and contaminants can be washed away and not left to stagnate on the floor.
A bespoke light blue colour blend was chosen for the new floor, which was installed around the curving lines of the pool edges throughout the facility including around the 50m indoor competition pool.
The site was only closed for one week, therefore the new floor had to be completed within a tight turnaround. This was achievable thanks to the rapid installation characteristics of Flowfresh SRQ, which utilises the fast curing seal coat Flowfast Sealer. This meant that the floor was comfortably completed on time, ready for the centre to reopen.
The City of Launceston’s family friendly venue, located just minutes from the city centre, offers a number of activities and state-of-the-art facilities for members and visitors. Thanks to Flowfresh SRQ, the site’s operators could rest assured that the floor would provide its guests with an attractive, clean and reliable surface underfoot for an extended period of time.
