The heritage listed facility Hangar 1, was in need of a new floor as the existing concrete slab was over 50 years old. The substrate required a high level of remediation, including over 500 lineal metres of joint repairs.
The applicator undertook a methodical slab remediation, with a particular emphasis on joint spalling repair, including ‘blocking out’ damaged joints 300mm on either side of the joint, installing dowelled starter bars in the existing concrete and restoring the removed concrete with Flowtex F1 mortar, prior to reintroducing expansion joints.
The remediation of the slab created a sound platform for the Flowcoat UV industrial resin flooring solution to be applied. Flowcoat UV provided the facility with the UV, chemical, abrasion and slip resistance required for the critical maintenance areas. The gloss finish featured a light texture to deliver a safe platform underfoot and provide excellent light reflectivity for added worker safety.
The application of 1300m² of the epoxy and polyurethane resin flooring solution was completed by Grind and Seal, who worked tirelessly to ensure the floor was completely transformed during the 2-month installation.
